Heat exchanger service and repair has been at the core of our business since 1988. With our years of experience and range of services, we are on hand to ensure your heat exchangers and coolers are operational, efficient and reliable.
Our services start with an inspection, after which we can recommend the best course of action when it comes to repairing, cleaning or servicing your heat exchanger. If your heat exchanger needs more than a simple clean or repair, we also offer retubing, resealing, reconditioning and replacement parts at very reasonable prices and with quick turnaround times.
Our service is fully-inclusive. If you opt to have your unit taken away, we can take care of transportation on your behalf and deliver the heat exchanger back to you in it’s new, improved state.
We can provide heat exchanger services for the following types of equipment:
- Shell and tube heat exchangers
- Extended surface (finned tube) heat exchangers
- Plate heat exchangers
- Air coolers
- Diesel engine generator radiators
We primarily work with the following sectors, either on or off-site:
We can handle any type of heat exchanger repair, no matter how complex. Our infrastructure and expertise allow us to work on your site or from our works plant in Sheffield, UK.
Your repair requirements might be obvious. If they need further diagnosis, we offer a full inspection service which includes pressure testing to find any existing leaks. Our eagle-eyed engineers are also skilled in identifying visible problems with your heat exchanger, such as blockages, erosion or general wear and tear.
Once the inspection is complete, we will carry out your repair to the highest possible standard to ensure the problems isn’t repeated in the future. The repair could include the following engineering practises:
- Refitting parts/tubes
- Re-engineering parts
- Repairing seals
- Repairing or replacing plugs
- Replacement parts
We understand that repairs are often urgent, therefore we offer an emergency breakdown service anywhere in the UK. If you have an emergency, don’t hesitate to call us.
Here at AKS we offer a full and thorough range of services for heat exchangers. Following an inspection of your heat exchanger, we will establish the servicing needs and will provide a breakdown of issues, costs and timescale. Whether it is a scheduled service or an emergency, we follow a professional process to ensure a quality job is done from start to finish.
The servicing of your heat exchanger will help it to operate safely and efficiently, as well as improving it’s reliability and prevention of breakdown. When we service your heat exchanger, our process will include:
- Removing the casing and stripping down the heat exchanger
- Analysing all major components of the unit
- Visual inspection
- Thorough cleaning
- Replacing worn/corroded parts
- Checking all connections, bolts, gaskets, electrics, fans.
- Pressure testing and issuing of certification
The benefits of regular heat exchanger servicing include:
- Fewer breakdowns
- Improved efficiency and performance
- Longer life-span
- Reduced repair costs
- Peace of mind
A blocked heat exchanger can lead to poor performance, low efficiency or even complete breakdown. We offer professional heat exchanger cleaning services using specialist products and techniques to ensure your exchanger works the best it can.
Whether it is on-site or off-site, we can handle any type of cleaning project. We use specialist chemicals and machinery, coupled with over 30 years experience, to provide the best heat exchanger cleaning offering on the market.
Our cleaning service could include:
- Tube brushing/drilling
- Chemical cleaning
- Mechanical cleaning
- Pressure jetting
Tubes are a key component of most heat exchangers, particularly the shell and tube variety. Tubes are usually made of cupro-nickel (90/10 Cuni) and like most metals, these tubes change size slightly under extremes of hot or cold. These extremes of heat or cold are commonplace in a heat exchanger.
Causes of blocked or eroded tubes can therefore include:
- Salt-water erosion/corrosion
- Freshwater erosion/corrosion
- Calcium build-up
If your heat exchanger has been regularly serviced and properly cleaned, then these problems may be fixed through cleaning. However, if the problem has caused too much damage, the tubes may need to be replaced. If this is the case, our engineers will professionally replace them with the finest quality tubes, as well as providing recommendations on how to better take care of your system.
Following any retubing process, we always pressure-test the unit to ensure complete safety, reliability and performance. NDT testing is also available if required.
